The Center for Medicare Advocacy, the country’s foremost Medicare advocacy organization, with offices in Washington, D.C. and Connecticut, seeks an experienced attorney for a senior management position in its Connecticut office. 

The person in this position will be a significant member of the management team working to accomplish the Center’s mission – providing fair access to health care for older and disabled people. The position will offer an opportunity to eventually direct and oversee important aspects of the Center’s operations.

Initially, the person in this position will learn both the culture and the operations of the Center, will help manage the Center’s Connecticut office, and will assist with oversight of the Center’s legal representation. This individual will play a key role in the Center’s administrative appeals and related educational and advocacy activities, will oversee legal and non-legal personnel, and will work with the management team to help develop the organization’s direction and funding.

Required: The successful candidate will have a passion for social justice, a law degree, a state Bar admission, at least five years of legal experience, and excellent written and oral communication skills. The ability to learn and master a complex area of the law is required. Excellent interpersonal skills for directing a diverse work staff are required.  This position requires a person with a proven ability to work successfully with a team of highly skilled individuals and an ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.

Preferences: Prior management experience, public interest law background, and knowledge of administrative, health, and/or elder law are desired.  In addition, excellent training skills in order to train both Center staff, as well as legal and medical professionals are highly desirable.
