Ilene Stein is currently Assistant Legislative Director and formerly the Associate Director of Health Policy for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), a union of 2 million workers, including one million workers in the healthcare industry. At SEIU, she works on a range of issues but primarily focuses on healthcare workforce and policy advocacy. Previously, she served as the Federal Policy Director for the Medicare Rights Center, a consumer service organization that ensures access to affordable health care for older adults and people with disabilities. She is the former co-chair of the Health Committee of the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations, a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance, and serves on the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s Consumer Advisory Council and Standards Committee. Ilene received her B.A. from Tufts University and her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
