Barbara S. Cooper of the Institute for Medicare Practice at the Mount Sinai
School of Medicine has prepared a paper concerning the design of a
care-coordination benefit for Medicare. The paper, written for the Center
for Medicare Advocacy's March 21, 2002 Medicare Coordinated Care Conference in
Washington, DC attempts to define the issues involved in creating a
care-coordination benefit, such as determining goals for such a benefit,
services to be provided under the benefit, and eligibility criteria. The
paper serves primarily as a starting point for consideration and discussion of
the many complex issues involved in a care-coordination benefit.
