CENTER FOR MEDICARE ADVOCACY EMPLOYEES TEAM UP WITH THE CENTER TO ASSIST IN HURRICANE RELIEF
With the stark and frightening images of homeless, dispossessed, and desperate people in their thoughts, Center for Medicare Advocacy employees are reacting with enthusiasm to an idea that unites them with the Center in providing assistance. They urge other employers and employees to consider similar arrangements.
The plan is simple. Each Center employee was asked – this was entirely voluntary but produced a near-unanimous positive response – to contribute one hour’s salary to hurricane relief. The Center for Medicare Advocacy matched the total contributed with its own contribution, and sent it all to the American Red Cross.
If employers throughout the country encouraged similar approaches, billions of dollars could be raised. But, it has to start somewhere, and the Center for Medicare Advocacy is proud that its employees have gotten the ball rolling.
